BRT North and South In September 2008, we consulted the public about the proposals for BRT South.

We are now consulting the public with proposals for BRT North. BRT North and South will provide a high quality public transport link between Rotherham and Sheffield. Together, they will support the increase in travel demand as future developments attract more jobs and create more journeys between the two districts.

BRT North will run through Attercliffe, Meadowhall and Templeborough.

The BRT project

The councils in Rotherham and Sheffield, along with South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE), are currently working together to introduce Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) between Rotherham and Sheffield.

BRT represents the next stage in the transformation of travel between these two districts. BRT is an efficient and high quality method of transport, distinct from conventional bus services, offering people an environmentally friendly and attractive public transport service that is a realistic alternative to travelling by car.

We realise that if you live in the area and often commute between Rotherham and Sheffield then this exciting new project might be of some interest to you. This website provides you with information about BRT and will be frequently updated as the project develops.
