The BRT Southern Route

The map below shows the route that BRT will take.

You can view a larger version of the map in a separate window by clicking on the map. This includes a key detailing the proposed route, bus stops, tram stops and the rail link.

BRT Southern Route

Features

  • BRT will be a dedicated public transport system for the residents of Canklow, Brinsworth and Waverley and those wishing to travel between Rotherham, Waverley and Sheffield.
  • BRT would run along the route shown on the map and link Rotherham and Sheffield with Waverley, an important regeneration area where new jobs are being created.
  • Roads will be widened at key sections of the route to create new dedicated lanes for BRT and other bus services, e.g. along the Parkway on the approach to Sheffield City Centre. BRT will share the roads with existing traffic for the rest of the route.
  • BRT would call at a limited number of bus stops so that journey times are quicker. Passengers would be able to wait at high quality bus stops and shelters, potentially with ticket machines to enable tickets to be purchased before boarding.
  • A new Park and Ride site at Waverley, with up to 1000 spaces, would help to reduce congestion.
  • BRT stops would be at key locations along the route, including Rotherham and Sheffield centres, the bus interchanges and railway stations.
